Glider Class

the glider class was built for the avons isle to sir michael Johnsons unique atlantic design. it was designed to pull express passenger trains. it worked but had a reputation for running out of steam often. this was because it had to go at high speeds and the boiler couldn't make enough steam to drive the cylinder inside. that is why it was replaced by another class of locomotive only 2 years later. 12 were built and 2 can still be seen at carverton railway museum and on sodor. sadly the museum example is unlikely to return to steam as it would be well outside the budget to repair.
